Stanton Moor is famous for its megaliths – particularly the Nine Ladies stone circle – and for its natural, wind-eroded sandstone pillars. But did you know that it is also haunted by a ghostly black dog ?
Local folklore describes a supernatural, hellhound-style black dog roaming the gritstone edges and ancient sites of the moor, especially near the Nine Ladies stone circle. Should you visit after dark just be watchful of what is roaming around other than yourself !
